Baby Bok Choy, 2024
I recently started working on this piece, just less than a week ago. It all began after I went to the grocery store, cleaned the produce, and noticed how beautiful the freshly washed baby bok choy looked as it air-dried on the kitchen counter. I immediately felt inspired to experiment with blue and yellow mediums.
They say to listen to your gut, right? #youarewhatyoueat
Similar to a stir-fry recipe, this painting has many different elements and ingredients, from glue to all-purpose baking flour, acrylic paint, and texture paste. Nature even found its way to be incorporated while I was outdoors, adding the finishing touches.
Just as cooking allows you to adjust the sauce to taste just right, painting offers the flexibility of layering on paint until you feel it's complete.
Having the ability to make changes after reflecting on what I see or taste shows me how I can improve my self-awareness.
