Brown Things, 2024

$3,799.00

Story Time:

The name of this piece was inspired by "Things Will Get Better" by Cleo Sol, which played while I was stapling the four wooden pieces or "things." The lyrics, “Give yourself space and time will tell, things will get easier, God will never fail you” resonated with me because I believe God is always with me, I always receive what I ask God for, and everything always works out for me.

This artwork serves as a gentle reminder to pray and accept your reality, even when things aren't going well.

How I Selected These Art Supplies:

I want to highlight the Broad Room, a nonprofit arts organization in Sacramento, CA, that supports historically underrepresented artists through its Free Art Supply Closet and affordable artist studio space programs. I've been a fan of upcycling art supplies for a while, and I'm thankful for the Board Room. With their supplies, I finally created my own "canvas" using their wooden pieces and woven fabric.
